In this lecture, Dr. Stoffey discusses the care of Lymphedema for the Primary Care Physician.

Learning Objectives:

To describe the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the Lymphatic System.
To describe the pathophysiologic basis of Lymphedema.
To describe the Etiology of Lymphedema.
To categorize and define the types of Lymphedema.
To describe the clinical assessment of, the diagnosis of, and the therapeutic options of Lymphedema Care.
To emphasize the role of the Primary Care Provider in suspecting that his/her patient has some form of Lymphedema and to seek early therapeutic options.

The Indiana Osteopathic Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 0.75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

It is the policy of the IOA that any physician dissatisfied with the CME program will be issued a refund upon request, and no CME credits will be reported to the AOA. Dr. Stoffey is a graduate of the Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine (WESTERN U COMP) in Pomona, CA. Dr. Stoffey spent fourteen years in the United States Army where he was trained as a diagnostic radiologist. His military service included overseas tours in West Germany and the Republic of Korea. Following his honorable discharge, Dr. Stoffey performed a neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Texas at Houston, where his area of interest was vascular interventional procedures and neurovascular pathology. Dr. Stoffey works for the Center of Vein Restoration in their Fort Wayne and Marion, IN, offices. Dr. Stoffey is board certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology (AOBR) and the American Board of Radiology. Additionally, he holds a certificate of added qualification in neuroradiology with the AOBR. Dr. Stoffey's medical interests include patient safety and quality control as well as research and scientific publications. He is an article reviewer for both the American Journal of Neuroradiology and the American Roentgen Ray Society.
