This lecture will discuss the importance of medical documentation regarding incidents of partner and family member assault and describe other aspects of the partner and family member assault experience.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand what IPV is really about
2. Identify the tactics abusers use to maintain power and control over their victims
3. Discuss the Cycle of Violence
4. Identify why the abused stay in the abusive relationship
5. Discuss how to diagnose and treat victims of IPV
6. Recognize the importance of medical documentation
7. Discuss the consequences of COVID -19 on IPV

This program was planned and implemented by the Montana Osteopathic Association (MOA) and was accredited by the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons (MAOPS).

The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Grievance Policy:
All grievances should be in writing and should specify the nature of the grievance.  Initially, all grievances should be directed to MAOPS Executive Director, who will then forward said grievance to the Education & Convention Committee.  All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt.  If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response, then they can then submit a complaint in writing to the Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.
